Noweyung Garden Show
The inaugural Noweyung Garden Show was an overwhelming success on all levels (see latest newsletter for photos). This annual event highlighted the abilities of the people we support in our services, whilst at the same time provided an enjoyable and exciting Garden carnival type atmosphere. Well known ABC Radio garden presenter, Nancy Morgan, was Noweyung’s special guest and one of the judges for the Garden Design Competition.
Next year’s Garden Show will be held on Saturday, 16 October 2010.
Christmas Shop
Noweyung will again have a Christmas Shop in Bairnsdale to sell and promote our range of products. The shop is located in the former “Go-Lo” store on the Princes Hwy, next to the Rivers shop. This is in partnership with Collins Booksellers and the Bairnsdale Toy Shop. Check out our range of products and innovative Christmas gift ideas.
Strategic Planning
Noweyung’s Board, management, staff, families and service users are well advanced in developing a new Strategic Plan for Noweyung to cover the next five years. Any other ideas or suggestions from families and service users can be passed on through management. The next stage is to take a draft back to interested parties before a more formal review is undertaken by the Board. It is expected that the new Strategic Plan will be finalised early in 2010.
DHS Letters to Families
Families and carers will, or have, received letters from DHS regarding funding provided for their family members receiving disability support services. Any families or carers with questions about their letter can contact Noweyung management.
Price Review
Noweyung Ltd is one of a group of services across Victoria involved in a price review for DHS State funded services. The Price Review is being conducted by Price Waterhouse Coopers. Previous work by Price Waterhouse Coopers indicated that community service organisations in the disability sector are significantly under-funded.
